Everything you need to know before booking — answered honestly and without jargon.
The first step is a free 20-minute discovery call. You can book this via our website or by emailing hello@theresilientmind.com. During this call, one of our team will learn about your situation and goals, and match you with the most appropriate specialist. There's no commitment and no pressure.
In most cases, we can match you with a therapist and schedule your first full session within 48 hours of your discovery call. We know that once someone decides to seek help, waiting weeks for an appointment is a real barrier — so we've built our scheduling to minimise that gap.
No. You can access The Resilient Mind directly, without a GP or physician referral. We are a private practice and operate independently of the public healthcare system. If you have a clinical history you'd like us to review, we can request relevant notes from your previous providers with your written consent.
Yes. After your discovery call, we will recommend the therapist we believe is best suited to your needs and professional context. However, you will have the opportunity to review their profile and, if you'd prefer someone different, we'll suggest alternatives. Therapeutic fit matters — we don't want to force a match that doesn't feel right.
That's completely fine — and more common than you might think. Many of our clients come to us knowing something is wrong but not having the clinical vocabulary for it. Part of the assessment process is helping you understand what you're experiencing and what the most appropriate support looks like. You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis.
We offer both. Virtual sessions are available globally via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. In-person sessions are available at our consulting rooms. Many clients start virtually for convenience and transition to in-person later, or combine both depending on their schedule and travel.
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. The frequency depends on your presenting needs and goals — many clients begin with weekly sessions and move to bi-weekly as they progress. We'll discuss this in your discovery call and review it regularly throughout your treatment. We don't have a fixed programme length; we work to your timeline and goals.
Your therapist may give you between-session exercises, reflections, or practices depending on the modality being used. You also have access to our secure client portal for messaging your therapist with non-urgent questions. Between-session contact is available for existing clients at no additional charge for brief communications.
Yes. We understand that our clients' schedules are often unusual. We offer early morning, evening, and weekend sessions with many of our therapists. Availability varies by practitioner — we'll work with your schedule during the matching process.
Yes. All sessions are strictly confidential and governed by HIPAA (US) and relevant data protection law. Your therapist will never share information about your treatment with your employer, colleagues, investors, board, or any other party without your explicit written consent. The only exceptions are the standard legal exceptions that apply in all therapy: imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, and mandatory reporting of abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult. These exceptions will be explained in full during your first session.
In the vast majority of cases, no. Seeking private therapy does not automatically trigger disclosure to licensing boards, regulators, or security clearance authorities. However, the rules vary by profession and jurisdiction. We recommend speaking with your professional association if you have specific concerns. What we can confirm is that we will never proactively disclose your participation in therapy to any professional body.
All client data is stored on encrypted, HIPAA-compliant servers. Session notes are stored separately from your personal identifying information. We use end-to-end encrypted video for virtual sessions. We do not sell, share, or use your data for any purpose other than delivering your care. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Absolutely. We have specific protocols for high-profile clients, including separate appointment systems, discretion in all communications, and the option to use a pseudonym for administrative purposes. We will never confirm or deny that any individual is a client. Our team is trained in confidentiality and privacy as a non-negotiable part of our practice.
Individual session fees vary by therapist and are discussed during your discovery call. We offer transparent pricing with no hidden fees. For clients who require intensive support, we offer programme packages at a reduced per-session rate. We also offer a limited number of reduced-fee slots for clients facing financial hardship — please ask during your discovery call.
We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, we provide a superbill (itemised receipt) that you can submit to your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients with PPO plans recover 40–70% of session fees this way. We can advise on this process during onboarding.
EAP coverage varies significantly. We are not typically in-network with EAPs, but we can provide documentation to support a reimbursement claim. We also offer corporate packages for organisations who wish to provide The Resilient Mind as a benefit to their leadership team — contact us for more information.
This is one of the most common things we hear. In most cases, therapy that "didn't work" was either the wrong modality, the wrong therapist, or an inadequate match to the specific psychological context of that person's life. Our model is built precisely on the premise that specificity matters — matching not just by presenting problem, but by the professional and life context in which that problem lives. We'd encourage you to book a discovery call and tell us what didn't work before. That's some of the most useful information we can receive.
Therapy, delivered by a licensed psychologist or therapist, works with psychological conditions, past trauma, and mental health diagnoses. It is clinically regulated and evidence-based. Coaching focuses on performance, goal-setting, and professional development — it is not clinical and typically doesn't address underlying psychological conditions. Many of our clients benefit from both. Our therapists are all clinically licensed; some also integrate performance psychology principles into their approach.
This varies enormously depending on your presenting concerns, goals, and history. Some clients achieve meaningful outcomes in eight to twelve sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work. We don't believe in keeping clients in therapy indefinitely — our goal is to build your capacity to manage your own psychological wellbeing, not to create dependency. We review progress regularly and are transparent about what the evidence suggests for your specific situation.
We're happy to answer anything before you commit to a single thing. No sales pressure — just honest information.
